Montrose Colorado Attractions
Situated in southwestern Colorado on the
Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains, Montrose is home to the
Black Canyon
National Park of the Gunnison ( 20 minutes by car to entrance on southside).
No other canyon in North America combines the narrow opening, sheer
walls, and startling depths offered by the Black Canyon of the
Gunnison. There are multiple overlooks for sightseeing and a road to
the bottom of the canyon. Recreational activities accompany these natural wonders like hiking, mountain biking,
skiing, fishing, boating and more. |

Curecanti National Recreation Area
Three dams comprise the Curecanti Storage Units: Crystal
Dam, Morrow Point Dam, and Blue Mesa Dam. Of the three,
the beautiful Blue Mesa provides recreational
opportunities. The largest body of water in Colorado
offers summer travelers excellent fishing and boating,
while winter enthusiasts enjoy ice fishing and
snowmobiling.

Grand Mesa National Forest
The world's largest flat-top mountain transcends a mile
above the surrounding Colorado and Gunnison Rivers. The
mesa was formed as lava seeped upward through fissures
in the earth 10 million years ago. Visitors of the Park
can enjoy excellent hiking and horseback riding on over
twenty marked trails.
